Kara Place

Kara first got exposed to research in her undergraduate degree working as a summer student in a genetics lab at Sickkids hospital in Toronto. After realizing how exciting and meaningful bench side research can be, she decided to pursue a Master’s in the Woodin lab investigating the role of inhibitory neurons in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Kara is currently a medical student at the University of Sydney, and hopes to one day incorporate her passion for bench side research into a translatable therapy option for future patients. When not in the lab or class Kara enjoys exploring the city (specifically finding new coffee shops), travelling, hiking, playing any type of sport, and of course… re-watching the all time classic Disney movies.
